Coached football at Iron River, Michigan; Hancock, Michigan; and Whitewater High School 1943-74

Coached Football 36 years, Won 219, Lost 73, Tied 9

At Whitewater the Jim Crummey coached teams won 9 conference championships and he was named conference Coach of the Year a number of times. In 1973 he was voted state AP Coach of the Year. The citizens of Whitewater expressed their appreciation by declaring Saturday, June 15, 1974, Coach Jim Crummey's Day in Whitewater. 

At the University of Wisconsin he coached the freshmen track and cross country teams 1933-36. At Iron River his basketball team won the Class B State Championship in 1942 and were runner up in 1939. Jim also coached baseball, track, golf, and tennis. 

He served in the Navy during World War II.
