Chuck Mueller is cited for his many years of service and contributions to youth, high school athletics and especially to high school football.

He was Fort Atkinson sports writer for the Janesville Gazette 24 years, also for the local daily, the Jefferson County Union, and for Madison and Milwaukee papers. His interest in youth activities got him into sports writing and he burned the midnight oil hundreds of times to report Fort Atkinson sports events.

In 1960, Chuck received the Lions Club distinguished community service award. He was honored for the following: vice chairman of the Red Cross one year and chairman nine; an organizer of the blood donor program; chairman two years of the Hoard School PTA; an organizer of Fort Atkinson Little League, the first in Southern Wisconsin; head scorer of Little and Pony Leagues 10 years; head scorer for the high school and Black Hawk baseball teams. At the 1962 Fort Sports Council banquet, Mueller was presented an "F" blanket and a lifetime membership in the high school "F" Club.

He has worked with county probation officers in youth rehabilitation assignments and aided the Junior Chamber of Commerce in its youth boxing program around World War II.

In retirement Chuck was a lay minister in Lake Mills.
