James C.H. Russell, M.D. - Team doctor - Fort Atkinson / UW-Whitewater

Attended Racine Washington Park High School, Graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison, B.S., PH.D., M.D.

Dr. James Russell has been Team Physician for Fort Atkinson High School since 1947. During that time he has served not only Fort Atkinson athletes, but athletes allover Southeastern Wisconsin as well.

Dr. Russell has graciously given of his time and expertise to the welfare of the high school athlete. He has been Team Physician for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for 26 years. He has served as Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee of the WIAA, served for 10 years on the Editorial Board of the Physician and Sports Medicine, 10 years on the AMA Committee on Exercise and Physical Fitness, Chairman of School Health Committee of State Medical Society of Wisconsin and Fellow of American Academy of Family Practice.

He has been inducted into the Wisconsin High School Basketball Coaches Association "Friends of Basketball" Hall of Fame. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association. In 1979 he received the same award from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. He is also a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Wisconsin High School Football Coaches Association.
