Dick Krueger - Messmer / Milw. King / Milw. Madison

Graduate of Milwaukee Messmer High School BS St Norbert College, MS University of Georgia

Coached football at:

Milwaukee Messmer 1952-53;
Milwaukee Rufus King 1953-60
Graduate Assistant at University of Georgia 1960-61
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee 1961-62
Milwaukee Rufus King 1962-66; and
Milwaukee Madison 1966-86.
His record was 168 wins and 86 losses, twelve Milwaukee City Championships, with six undefeated teams.

Dick graduated from Milwaukee Messmer High School where he lettered three years in football and ice hockey. At St. Norbert's he lettered for three years in football, basketball and track. He started his coaching career at Milwaukee Messmer in 1952.

He moved to Milwaukee Rufus King in 1953 and coached there until 1965. At King his teams won the city Championship five times. In 1966 Dick moved to Milwaukee Madison where he coached for 20 years. In that span they won three Division and four City Championships.

In 1961 Dick did graduate work at the University of Georgia where he helped in football and tutored Frank Tarkington.

In 1962-63 he was head line coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. During his years in the Milwaukee Schools he also coached basketball, boxing, baseball and track. He was honored five times as the Milwaukee Football Coach of the Year.

Dick is a member of the Milwaukee Coaches Association, Milwaukee Football Coaches Association, Wisconsin Football Coaches Association, National Football Coaches Association, the American Legion, Lion's Club, and St. Claire’s Board of Education. He was a co-organizer of the Wisconsin High School Football Coaches Association and the Milwaukee Football Coaches Association. He initiated and organized the Boosters Club and Lettermen's Club at James Madison High School.

At this time one of Dick's ball players, Dan Turk, is playing for the LA. Raiders. Contributing to and establishing a winning tradition in athletics and academics at Milwaukee Rufus King and James Madison High Schools has been Dick's greatest achievement.
