Wilford P. Hill - Platteville

Graduate of Waukesha High School, B.A. Degree in Chemistry, Carroll College, Waukesha, Wisconsin Other Colleges attended - Notre Dame, University of Wisconsin

Wilford participated in high school sports and in track as a javelin thrower in college. He coached basketball and track from 1920-1959 and football from 1926-1951, all at Platteville High School. He was also Athletic Director there from 1952-1964.

Wilford's football teams produced 10 league championships, with a record of 120 wins, 12 ties and 35 defeats. He also coached track and basketball.

Honors and awards received by Wilford are: Hall of Fame, basketball; Hall of Fame, track; Platteville High School teams are named "Hillmen" in his honor; football field name "Hill Field" in 1952. He was a chemistry and physics teacher at Platteville High School from 1920-1964.

Wilford was a Kiwanis Officer, belonged to the Masonic Lodge, was treasurer of Holy Trinity Church in Platteville, head of Community Chest, Director of Grant County Historical Society, Chairman of Cunningham Museum in Platteville and was Director of Platteville summer recreation and swimming pool for 25 years.
