Graduated from La Crosse Logan in 1964, Graduated from UW-River Falls in 1970 with a Bachelor's degree, Received Master's degree from UW-La Crosse plus 30 credits toward next degree

In high school Robert participated in football, wrestling and baseball. In college he participated in football and wrestling. He was also a member of the AS.A softball champs in 1974 and plays racquetball and golf.

Robert coached football at Cadott in 1970, DeSoto from 1971-1987 and has been at his present position since 1987. Other sports he has coached include: head varsity baseball coach (1973-1976), basketball (1979-1983), wrestling (1977,1978) and track (1971-1975).

His overall football record is 151-51 with 12 Conference Championships (1974, 1976-1986), four undefeated seasons with playoffs (1976-1979) and six undefeated regular season (1976-1979, 1985, 1986). His teams were State Football Champs in 1976, 1983 and 1984 and runners-up in 1985 and 1986. From 1975 (the second conference game) 1986, his teams did not lose a conference football game.

Other coaching records include: Wrestling - 11-0, 1978 Conference Champs, 11-1, 1979 Conference Champs, 1979 Regional, Sectional and State Champs; and 1981 baseball Champs.

Robert is a member of the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association, Wisconsin High School Driver's Ed Association, National Association of Math Teachers, Athletic Director 1974-79 at DeSoto, a YMCA member from 1970-present and teacher's union president from 1978-80.

Honors and awards he has received include: La Crosse Elks Coach of the Year, 1976; La Crosse Tribune Coach of the Year, 1976; Region Three Coach of the Year, 1976; Kellogg's Coach of the Year, 1976; La Crosse Elks Coach of the Year, 1978; Region Three Coach of the Year, 1981; Elks Coach of the Year, 1982; Elks Coach of the Year, 1983; La Crosse Tribune Coach of the Year, 1983; Region Three Coach of the Year, 1983; Region Three Coach of the Year, 1984; Region Three Coach of the Year, 1985; and Elks Coach of the Year, 1986.

He was Teacher of the Year in 1976 and was elected to the UW-River Falls Hall of Fame.
