MARK HOEGH
Dave McClain Distinguished Service Award

Mark was raised in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, the only child of Marcus and Alice Hoegh. In 1950 he graduated from Kaukauna High School. His principal, Paul Little, and football coach, Guy Krumm, are Wisconsin Hall of Fame members.

Mark was a member of the National Honor Society, class vice president 1947, class president 1949-1950, selected to Badger Boys State 1949. In track conference meets: placed fourth in discus 1948, third discus, first shot put 1949, first discus, second shot 1950. Class B sectional meets: second shot 1949, first discus and shot 1950. Class B State meet: third shot 1949, fifth shot, fourth discus 1950.

In football Mark played on the 1946 freshman conference title team, conference title teams of 1948,1949, team co-captain 1949, All Conference first team 1948-1949, All State honorable mention 1948, All-State first team 1949, State High School North-South All-Star team 1950, co-captain on winning North team. Mark graduated UW-Madison 1955, lettered in football two years, played in the Rose Bowl 1953, Shrine North/South All-Star game 1953, UW-assistant freshman football coach 1954-1955. In 1993 he was mentioned as a guard in the “Milwaukee Journal” 100 years of Wisconsin high school football all-time All-State team.

From 1957-1996 Mark worked, managed and later owned Robbins Supper Club in Oshkosh.

Other awards/activities include; 1950 Thilmany Award, 1953 City of Kaukauna Mark Hoegh Recognition Day, 1971 Chairman of Oshkosh Titan Stadium Dedication, 1976 elected to KHS Athletic Hall of Fame, formally on National “W” Club Board, 1984 Fox Cities Sports Award for contributions to WI. Sports as player-backer-fan, 1985 Pat O’Dea Award for meritorious service to UW athletics, 2000 Bucky’s Best Award, 2004 selected to Bascom Hill Society, completed eight year ROTC obligation as Army Captain. Mark's: lifetime member of the Reserve Officers Association, Wisconsin Alumni Association, National “W” Club, Oshkosh Titan Booster Club, past board member Oshkosh Associated Bank, originator of UW-football golf fund raiser 1967-2004, started Central Mendota Gridiron Club 1992-present.

Mark continues his enthusiasm for sports and “extends a heartfelt thanks to all those who have helped me in so many ways all these years.”
