Pete was born in Sturgeon Bay, WI on May 5, 1959 to Rev. Theo and Vivian Baganz.  He attended Sturgeon Bay High School, where he played basketball, baseball, and football.  While playing football, he was a captain his senior year.  After graduating from high school in 1977, Pete attended UW-Eau Claire for one year, and then transferred to UW-River Falls where he began his football coaching career as a scout for River Falls High School under Head Coach, Tom Carroll. Upon graduation, he returned to Sturgeon Bay starting his coaching career as a freshman football coach in the fall of 1982 under Head Coach, Gordy Saron, and worked his way to varsity assistant through the 1988 season.  While in Sturgeon Bay, Baganz also coached freshman boys’ basketball, JV baseball, and later as head baseball coach.  In the fall of 1989, Pete became a graduate assistant at UW-Oshkosh under Head Coach, Ron Cardo, where he coached running backs.

 

In 1991, Pete returned to the high school ranks in the Luxemburg-Casco school district teaching high school physical education and coaching assistant varsity football, JV girls’ basketball, and assistant varsity softball.  Pete took over as head football coach, accumulating 20 wins in 4 seasons.

 

In 1999, Baganz moved to Ashwaubenon high school where he coached numerous sports including freshman softball, JV girls’ basketball, freshman and JV baseball, and assistant varsity football, coaching linebackers.  In 2008, he took over as defensive coordinator.  During his current tenure in Ashwaubenon, the Jaguars have won 3 State Championships, made 13 straight playoff appearances, and won 6 Conference Championships.

 

Baganz has coached numerous All-Conference and All-State players throughout his career.  Many of his former players have gone on to play college ball at all levels, including UW linebacker, Mike Taylor.
