Jovin Kroll of Webster High School has been named Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday.

Kroll, in his first season as the head coach and seventh with the Webster program, led the Tigers to a 21-6 victory over Cameron, on Friday, Oct. 4, to improve to 7-0 and clinch a playoff berth in the 2013 WIAA State Tournament. Kroll’s team will travel to Saint Croix Falls High School this coming Friday in efforts to secure sole possession of the Lakeland–North Conference Championship.

“We didn’t have the greatest success the last few years, but these kids saw the potential they had and worked harder to reach the goals that they’re starting to achieve right now,” said Kroll. “They’re very excited about continuing their winning ways.”

A Poplar, Wis., native, Kroll is a 2002 graduate of Maple-Northwestern High School, where he played linebacker and wide receiver under former Packers Coach of the Week winner Ray Kosey. After high school, Kroll attended the University of Wisconsin–River Falls, where he was the punter for head coach John O’Grady. Upon graduating in 2007, Kroll was a hired as an offensive assistant at Webster and coached in that capacity until he was promoted to head coach in 2013. Kroll is also the school’s language arts teacher.

Kroll and his staff oversee a program of 49 players. His assistant coaching staff includes Joel Anderson, Craig Dorn, Andy Lind, Rob Scherrer and Andy Smith.

Kroll and his wife, Breena, have two children, Kamden and Jayan.
