Wisconsin Football Coaches Association

Ron was born in Madison, Wisconsin, on November 11, 1942 to Harvey and Betty Bronson. Ron has three brothers, Allan, Stephen, and Norman, and two sisters, Beverley and Nancy. Allan and Norman are inductees in the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Assn. Hall of Fame. Ron graduated from East Troy High School in 1960 where he played football, basketball, and baseball. They were Southern Lakes Champions in football and basketball his senior year. 

Bronson continued playing football at UW-Whitewater where he earned four varsity letters. The team was the 1962 league champions and Ron was team co-captain his senior year. Ron also played for three years for the Delavan Red-Devils semi-pro football team. 

Upon graduation from Wisconsin-Whitewater, Bronson started his teaching and coaching career at Delavan-Darien High School. Ron was a Freshman and JV coach for Hall of Fame Coach Wally Zimmerman from 1965 to1980. Delavan-Darien was the 1967 SLC conference champion. Ron continued as assistant and defensive coordinator for Tom Scharfenberg from 1981-1987. Delavan-Darien had SLC championships in 1982 and 1983. Ron was the head coach at Delavan-Darien from 1988-1996. SLC champions in 1988. He continued his assistant role for Ben Cooper from 1997-2000, SLC champions in 1999. He also was an assistant coach for Scott Imrie from 2001-2006, SLC champions in 2004. Ron continued his assistant coaching role for Steve Tenhagen from 2007 to 2013, 2010 SLC Champions. Bronson also coached freshman and JV basketball from 1966-1981. Ron was honored to be an assistant coach for the 1997 WFCA all-star game.
