Jeff Rosemeyer, Colby

Jeff Rosemeyer was born September 1, 1957, in Stanley, Wisconsin, to Eugene and Dorothy Rosemeyer. He grew up on a dairy farm in the town of Taft in Taylor County. He attended Gilman High School and was a three sport athlete lettering in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. He was a captain of the Football team his senior year for WFCA Hall of Fame Coach Duane Jensen and was chosen as the Most Valuable Senior Athlete when he graduated in the spring of 1975.

Jeff attended UW-Eau Claire from 1975 to 1980, where he played baseball for four years before graduating Summa Cum Laude with a major in Mathematics Education and a Coaching minor.

In the summer of 1980 he was hired by the School District of Colby as a math teacher, assistant football coach, and assistant wrestling coach. During the early years at Colby he also held several other coaching positions. He was the JV Girls basketball coach from 1982 through 1984, JV Boys basketball coach from 1985 through 1989, assistant Baseball coach from 1984 through 1986, and head Baseball coach from 1987 through 1999 and from 2002 through 2009.

Jeff served as an assistant football coach under WFCA Hall of Fame coach Duane Teska from 1980 through the 1991 season before taking over the Head Coach roll in 1992. During the years as an assistant coach Jeff was the defensive coordinator on teams that won three conference championships and appeared in the play-offs four times including a runner-up finish in the state championship game in 1985.

Since taking over as Head Coach in 1992 Jeff’s teams have won six conference championships and appeared in the playoffs eighteen times. His teams were State Champions in 1998, 2008, and 2011 with a runner-up finish in 2010.
