Hello coaches, the WFCA has partnered with Kevin Patrowsky on the following project:

The Great Teams: A History of Wisconsin High School Football written by Kevin E. Patrowsky and printed with the assistance of the WFCA is now available for purchase.

The Great Teams can be purchased online for $20 at www.wihifootball.com.  Order now through the end of 2020 and get free shipping.

Over 50 years of research and decades of maintaining the Wisconsin high school state football record book have led to this book.  By profiling state champions and other impressive teams, going back to Madison’s 1897 “national champions”, this book tells the story of how the game developed and Wisconsin’s incredible impact while recording the accomplishments, innovations and influence of the many players and coaches over the last 130 years.

Primarily told through individual team profiles, The Great Teams expands on the impact of players and coaches like William Juneau, (grandnephew of Solomon Juneau), Gus Dorais (quarterback for Knute Rockne at Notre Dame who helped modernize the forward pass), Arlie Mucks (first American public high schooler in the Olympics), Win Brockmeyer, Tom Hearden, Alan Ameche, Gerry Uchtyil and onto the current giants of Wisconsin high school football.

Check out Kevin’s blog on this same website for his weekly stories on high school football, additional insight to the history of Wisconsin high school football, links to his state record book which is on the WFCA website, and a table of contents for the book. You may also submit questions or new records through this website.
