8-Player: North 74, South 12

The North team went up early and dominated throughout in a 74-12 victory over the South squad in the WFCA 8-Player All-Star Game held Friday night at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh.

It was all North from the beginning, as they jumped out to a 12-0 lead after the first quarter. An 88-yard touchdown pass from Evan Pedretti (De Soto) Sam Marquardt (Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas) got the South squad close to open the second quarter, but a 12-6 deficit was as near as the South would be the rest of the game.

The North led 38-12 at halftime after a big second quarter, and kept taking on early and often in the third quarter. After James Bruhn (Phillips) went 36 yards for his second touchdown of the day just over a minute into the second half, Josh Young (Clayton) caught a 21-yard touchdown from Conner Krach (Newman Catholic) to put a running clock less than four minutes into the second half.

Dale Tetrault (McDonell Central) scored two more touchdowns in the game and Avery Starzecki (Clayton) added another for the final points of the game.

Krach thew for 84 yards and two touchdowns, completing six-of-seven passes, adding five carries for 49 yards and a score on the ground as well. Bruhn led the North with 76 rushing yards on just three carries, as the team totaled 259 yards on the ground, averaging more than 10 yards per carry.

Dale Tetrault caught three passes for 40 yards with two touchdowns in addition to his rushing score.

The South 8-Player team was led in rushing by Giuseppe Mercier (Gibraltar) who had 33 yards on 13 carries. The South had negative-103 yards as a team on 36 carries.

Evan Pedretti threw for 221 yards and a touchdown with one interception, completing 12-of-17 passes. Kolby Lancaster (Belmont) threw for 25 yards on four-of-nine passing.

Bryce Grelle (De Soto) led the South in receptions with four, while Marquardt had the 88-yard catch and Brandon Baumann (Three Lakes) added a 66-yarder.

Small Schools: North 44, South 12

A big second quarter helped the North team pull away from the South in the WFCA Small School All-Star Game, securing a 44-12 victory at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh.

A dominating edge in the running game was a key differentiator for the North, who out-rushed the South team 256 to negative-eight in yards on the ground.

However, it was the passing game that got the North on the board first, with Jackson Flottmeyer (Aquinas) hitting Hunter Theil (Little Chute) from 15 yards to open the scoring in the game midway through the first quarter.

David Gauderman (Wittenberg-Birnamwood) and Flottmeyer would add rushing touchdowns early in the second quarter as the North took a 22-0 lead. The team would trade scores later in the half, but the North enjoyed a 28-6 halftime advantage.

Things didn't change much in the second half, as the North cruised home for the 44-12 victory.

It was a well-balanced rushing attack, with four players rushing for at least 50 yards: Gauderman with 57, Mitchell Thompson (Kewaunee) with 55, Dawson Rud (Mondovi) with 55, and Trevor Asher (Elmwood/Plum City) with 54. Flottmeyer was the South's top passer, completing seven-of-12 for 65 yards. Theil hauled in a pair of catches for a team-best 29 yards.

The South struggled running the ball, with negative-eight yards for the game. Blake Schraufnagel (Mayville) and Gabe Egan (Cedar Grove-Belgium) sharing team-high honors with nine rushing yards. John Perugini (Racine St. Catherine's) threw for 83 yards on nine-of-17 passing. Egan also led the South in receiving, hauling in seven passes for 43 yards.

Large Schools: North 49, South 7

The North team capped off a weekend sweep of the South with a 49-7 victory in the WFCA Large School All-Star Game on Saturday evening at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh.

It was a dominating weekend for the three teams from the North, who outscored their South counterparts by a total of 167-31.

It was the South team that got on the board first in this one, as Mason Keyes (DeForest) hit Trevor Boucher (Mukwonago) from 27 yards out less than two minutes into the game. The Ethan Tranel (Mount Horeb/Barneveld) extra point put the South up 7-0, but it was all North from there.

Quarterback A.J. Korth (Menasha) bowled his way in from a yard out with 5:53 left in the first quarter to square things at seven, and less than a minute later Leo Brostowitz (Wisconsin Rapids) plunged in from three yards out to give the North a lead they would never relinquish.

Korth and Najeh Mitchell (West De Pere) scored on short runs before halftime, as the North led 28-7 at the break. Korth tossed a trio of touchdown passes in the second half, one each to Nicky Odom (Onalaska), Preston Miller (D.C. Everest), and Jase Jenkins (Neenah) to begin the running clock.

Korth finished with 120 yards and three touchdowns through the air, adding 25 yards and two scores on the ground. Noah Diebert (Hartford) led the North in rushing with 53 yards, while Najeh Mitchell added 48. Mitchell hauled in three passes for 28 yards, while Will Van Fossen had a team-high 65 receiving yards for the North squad.

Mason Keyes (DeForest) was the leading passer for the South with 86 yards, while quarterback Luke Novotny (Marquette) was the top rusher with 17 yards. Trevor Bouche had a team-high five receptions for the South while Joe Mueller added three catches for 44 yards.

The North team out-gained the South 324-136 and ran 14 more offensive plays, scoring on all seven red zone possessions.
