Dr. Al Mancheski - Sturgeon Bay / Green Bay East / Green Bay Premontre

Born February 23, 1921 in Denmark, WI

Attended East High School, Green Bay, Graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison and Illinois College of Optometry
Coached football at:

•    Sturgeon Bay High School 1948-50, 1957-60;
•    Green Bay East 1960-66; and
•    Assistant at Green Bay Premontre 12 years.

Coached Football 25 years, Won 61, Lost 27, Tied 7 (13 years)

Teams at Sturgeon Bay won championships in 1948 and 1950. After assisting Ted Fritsch at Green Bay Premontre, Al returned to Sturgeon Bay and won championships in 1958 and 1959. In 1965 his Green Bay East team won the Fox River Valley Conference and he was selected Coach of the Year.

That same year Al was picked as the Wisconsin High School Coach of the Year. He also received the Fox Cities Sports Award in 1965.

Al was a popular clinic speaker and was noted for his research on "vision" in football. An early advocate of weight training prompted his presentation on this subject at the "Coach of the Year" clinic at Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1966.

He has coached basketball, baseball, wrestling and track. Al served one year as an assistant at the University of Wisconsin in 1947. For several years, beginning in1971 he was a member of the WISAA Football Championship Selection Committee.
