Sam Young - Black River Falls

Born April 30, 1927 in Augusta, WI

Attended Augusta High School, Graduate of UW-Eau Claire, MA from Western State Colorado

Coached football at Black River Falls High School 1949-71

Coached Football 23 years, Won 123, Lost 59, Tied 6

Sam coached his teams to nine championships. The 1952 and 1957 teams went undefeated. He has been an athletic director for over 25 years.

Sam was president of the Wisconsin High School Coaches Association 1976-77.

In 1976 Coach Young was inducted into the Eau Claire "Blugold" Hall of Fame. While at Eau Claire, Sam lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. He was the team captain in football in 1948 and all-conference in 1947 and 1948.

Sam has officiated at the high school and college level for thirty years. He officiated on NIAA European Tour. Sam has also coached baseball and golf.

He is a charter member of the Wisconsin High School Basketball Hall of Fame.
