Marvin Bins - Green Bay Press-Gazette

Born October 2, 1926 in Town of Humboldt, Wisconsin

Attended Green Bay East and Luxemburg High Schools - Graduated in 1945.

He started writing articles for the Gazette in 1945. He not only writes up the most accurate play by play for the local papers, he also takes action shots. He covers all sports contests for Luxemburg-Casco, home and away when physically possible.

Marv has been in sports for years as a coach and promoter. He has been a football and basketball official for the WIAA from 1950 through 1974. Publicity Director of the Peninsula Conference for 18 years, 1953-70. He has covered all the different sports from girls basketball to girls track and golf; from boys football to boys wrestling, track and cross country. He can be seen at other school functions as well.

Marv has been awarded Man of the Year by community organizations for the work he has done. After home games he compiles all the stats, phones all the radio and TV stations in the area and gives the write-up to about five local papers. He also calls the scores into the UPI and AP wire service. These services are all done at his own expense.

Marv is a former president of the Luxemburg Sportsmen's Club and received their Service Award in 1978. In 1973 the Luxemburg-Casco Lettermen's Club honored Marv with a plaque for 29 years of dedicated service.
