In 1977 Steve was hired as the head football coach at Berlin High School. During this time Berlin has won five conference championships. Berlin participated in the WIAA playoffs ten times. The girls' teams have won three conference championships and two WIAA regional championships.

Steve would like to thank the wonderful community of Berlin for all the friendships and support. He is also grateful for the support of administration and the teaching staff and, of course, all of the hardworking athletes.

Steve would like to give a big thanks to the best staff a coach could ask for - coaches (and wives) Mike Hermanson, Bob Prellwitz, Lynn Mork, Al Bednarek, and Dave Kramer. These men have been associated with Berlin football for many, many years.

Steve also appreciated the encouragement and support he received from his family, parents Merwin and Ruth, and brothers, Tom and Tim.

Steve wishes to thank the WFCA for everything they do to promote the great game of football in Wisconsin.
