Tom Swittel - Dominican / Wauwatosa East / Brookfield East

Tom was born in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, on May 3, 1957, to Tom and Marie Swittel. He graduated from Milwaukee Marquette University High School in 1975. Swittel lettered in football, baseball, and wrestling at Marquette.  Swittel played forWFCA Hall of Fame coach Dick Basham at Marquette.

Swittel continued playing football at the collegiate level at St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin, where Swittel played for WFCA Hall Of Fame coach Howie Kolstad.

Swittel was a four year starter in the defensive line and linebacker, and made first team AII-WICA in 1976, 1977, and 1978.  Swittel was elected captain by his teammates in 1978.

After graduating from St. Norbert College, Swittel started his coaching career at Whitefish Bay Dominican High School in 1979.  Swittel left Dominican for Wauwatosa East in 1982.  Swittel worked under WFCAHall Of Fame coach John Richmond while at Wauwatosa East.

Swittel returned to Dominican in 1983 as Head Coach and coached there through 1985.  Swittel was also the head baseball coach at Dominican in the spring as well as Head Baseball Coach at Wauwatosa West from 1980-1995 during the summer season.

Swittel returned to Wauwatosa East in 1987 after spending the 1986 season at Milwaukee Pius Xl High School, reuniting with John Richmond. Swittef helped coach the Reel Raiders to their playoff appearances while an assistant (1987, 1993, 1994).

Swittel became the Head Coach at Wauwatosa East in 1995 when Coach Richmond retired. Swittel coached the Red Raiders to a Woodland Conference Championship that first season and was named Woodland Conference Coach of the Year in the process. Swittel was hired hired as the head coach at Brookfield East in 2010.

There have been many coaching highlights for Swittel including: second most wins in Wauwatosa East history, nine playoff appearances, Woodland Conference (1995) and Greater Metro Conference (2003) Coach of the Year, CNI Newspapers High Honorable Mention Coach of the Year (2001, 2003,2004, 2005),  CNT Newspapers Coach of the Year (20th WFCA District Coach of the Year (2003),  WFCA South All Star Head Coach (2007), Suburban Conference Baseball Coach of the Year (for Wauwatosa West, 1986), and Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association District and State Assistant Coach of the Year for Wauwatosa East, 2003). Swittel is also the Founder and President of the Wauwatosa East Jr. Raider Football Organization.
