The South squads swept the North in both games of the 2012 WFCA All-Star Classic held at Titan Stadium on the campus of UW-Oshkosh on Saturday. The Division 4-7 South team opened up a lead early and held on for a 25-17 victory, while the Division 1-3 South group posted a 37-0 shutout.

Division 4-7 All-Star Game

Platteville's Logan Emendorfer put on a dazzling display for the South squad, completing 7 of 8 passes for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns, while adding 18 yards on the ground. His performance helped the South open an early lead and eventually hang on for a 25-17 win.

The South capitalized on an early turnover, as Emendorfer hooked up with Big Foot's Kenneth Walker after North quarterback Kyle Cody of McDonell Central threw an interception on the first play from scrimmage.

Osseo-Fairchild's Nick Moore connected on a 45-yard field goal later in the first quarter for the North, but it was the last scoring they would do until late in the game.

The South team dominated the second quarter, with an Alex Resnick (Cambridgge) touchdown and T.J. Walkington (Catholic Central) field goal pushing their advantage to 17-3 at halftime.

The third quarter was a stalemate, with neither team able to get any points on the board.

Emendorfer went to work in the fourth however, connecting with Matt Sosinsky (Montell/Princeton/Green Lake) for a 12-yard touchdown to send the South on top 25-3.

The North team wouldn't go away however, as Cody engineered a pair of late scoring drives, capped by touchdown passes for Cumberland's Brady Rose and McDonell's Ryan Baier.

Alex Resnick led the South team with 55 rushing yards on 10 carries, while Kenneth Walker hauled in 4 passes for 81 yards.

Cody completed 14 of 23 passes for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns for the North squad, who were led in rushing by Coleman's Mitch Champagne, who had a 17-yard scamper on his only carry. Brady Rose hauled in 5 catches for 79 yards.

Division 1-3 All-Star Game

For the second straight year, the South team posted a dominating shutout victory in the Division 1-3 WFCA All-Star Game. After blanking the North 30-0 last year, the South were even better this season in recording a 37-0 victory.

The South got impressive performances from a number of players, but it was Waunakee kicker Jack Russell, who will walk-on at Wisconsin in the fall, who may have stolen the show. He booted the opening kickoff for a touchback, and would go on to knock seven of his eight kickoffs into the end zone. He also was perfect on four extra points, and nailed field goals from 36, 29, and 49 yards out.

After forcing a three-and-out on the first North possession, the South squad got an outstanding punt return by Waukesha West's Joe Schobert, and used the short field to go in for a touchdown shortly after, as Waunakee's Leo Musso scampered in from 3 yards out.

Janesville Parker running back Adam Vesterfelt added an 8-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, and Wilmot quarterback Chris Nelson connected with Marquette University wide receiver Matt Misiewicz early in the second for a 33-yard score. Russell would add a field goal as the South team led 24-0 at halftime.

Oak Creek's Lincoln Wylie scored a touchdown early in the fourth quarter and Russell would add two more field goals to make the final score 37-0.

The South quarterback trio of Chris Nelson, Jake Nelson (Milwaukee Lutheran), and Jason Meichtry (Brookfield Central) combined for to 12 of 19 for 165 yards, spreading the ball around extremely well, with no receiver catching more than two passes. Adam Vesterfelt was the leading rusher with 28 yards on 11 carries, as twelve South players had at least one carry. The South defense picked off the North quarterbacks three times, recording four sacks as well.

West De Pere's Jay Tollefson led the North team with 64 passing yards, while Tomah's Cole Franklin caught 3 passes for 29 yards. Kewaskum's Eric Perkins led the way on the ground with 22 yards.
