The WFCA All-Star Games serve as a fundraiser for the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. This year's players set a new record with a total of more than $377,000 raised for the Children's Hospital.

The South squad scored first but a resilient North team came back for a thrilling 20-19 win in the 2013 WFCA Small School All-Star Game. It was the first time the North won the Small School game since the second game was added in 2009.

Boasting two players who ran for more than 5,000 yards in their career (Necedah's Kris Manning and Cedar Grove-Belgium's Alex Giles) plus WFCA Offensive Player of the Year Mason Dixon of Big Foot, one may have expected the South team to have success on the ground. However. the stellar North defense held them to just 36 yards rushing.

The South did do some damage through the air however, including a 79-yard double reverse pass from Southwestern's Aaron Kaiser to Chris Madden of Kenosha St. Joseph's for the first score of the game.

The North ground attack pounded away all day, and resulted in their first score by Laconia's Cody Moon in the second quarter to tie it up at 6. A spectacular catch by Clayton's Zach Schradle on a 12-yard strike from teammate Kyle Larson put the North ahead 12-6 at halftime.

Larson hooked up with Vince Dinkel of Marathon in the third quarter to move the score to 20-6 heading into the final period.

A Jacob Simons (Lake Country Lutheran) to Kile Jerrett (Lancaster) 36-yard pass pulled the South within a score in the fourth quarter. A Simons to Kris Manning pass over the middle turned into a 64-yard score late in the game, but the game-tying extra point was missed. 

The South team recovered the ensuing onside kick but Elmwood's Logan Wolf intercepted Simons two plays later to end the threat. Facing a 4th and 1 deep in South territory with a chance to run out the clock, Winneconne's Dylan Hecker converted to seal the win for the North.

Hecker finished with a game-high 79 rushing yards on 16 carries, while Amherst quarterback Chris Zblewski added 73 on the ground. Larson completed 8 of 12 passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns for the North, with Isaiah Frandsen of Barron the leading target, hauling in 3 receptions for 47 yards. Saint Mary Springs linebacker Matt Austin had a team-best 4 tackles, including two for loss.

Simons threw for 158 yards on 8 of 21 passing for two touchdowns while Giles led the South in rushing with 24 yards on 6 carries. Kenosha St. Joseph's Chris Madden, a running back, caught 3 passes for 102 yards and a score. Nekoosa's Matt Kleinhans was the leading tackler with 6.

Things did not look good for the South team in the 2013 WFCA Large School All-Star Game, as a Pick-6 on the opening play put them in a 6-0 hole. Not much went wrong the rest of the way as the South came roaring back for a 47-19 victory. The 47 points tied a WFCA All-Star Game record set by the North team in 1988.

Austin Feuerheim (Holmen) got the North team on the board quickly, picking off Watertown's Tarek Yaeggi on the first offensive play of the game and returning it 39 yards for the touchdown.

The South came right back however, marching right back down the field to tie the game on a 2-yard Daylon Bowar (Mount Horeb/Barneveld) touchdown run.

Pius XI quarterback took over after that, throwing the first of his four touchdown passes, this one a 52-yarder to Catholic Memorial receiver Andre Bodden. The South would add two more first half scores to go up 27-6 at halftime, but the North got on the board right away after the break as Brett Kasper (Two Rivers) hooked up with Andrew Davis (Eau Claire Memorial) for a 29-yard score.

Senger rolled out and found Watertown's Sam Zwieg on the sideline to put the South up 34-13 on the next possession, but the North showed their mettle. The North capped a 12-play drive, all runs, with a 1-yard scoring plunge from Somerset quarterback Tyler Ledbetter on 4th and goal.

Senger found Sam Mentkowski (Whitnall) on another outstanding touchdown pass and Wisconsin Lutheran's Adiha Bell added a scoring run as the South pulled away for the 47-19 victory.

Senger stole the show, completing 8 of 10 passes for 179 yards and 4 touchdowns, adding 4 carries for  a team-best 49 yards as well. Yaeggi added 151 yards on 8 of 15 passing. Ty Dennis of Burlington caught 2 passes for 127 yards, while Zwieg had a team-best 4 catches for 57 yards. Brookfield Central defensive lineman Chikwe Obasih was very active with a team-leading 7 tackles.

The North team tried to stay on the ground in Somerset coach Bruce Larson's option offense, with Rice Lake fullback Colten Weinberger carrying the ball 17 times for 61 yards. Kasper completed 6 of 10 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown, with De Pere's Evan Newhouse leading the team in receiving yards with one catch for 39 yards. Linebackers Nate Krupp of Kewaskum and Ross Zillman of Marshfield led the team with 5 tackles.
