Jeff Spiwak of Clinton High School has been named Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday.

Spiwak, in his second season as the head coach of the Clinton program, led the Cougars to a 26-14 victory over the No. 4 ranked New Glarus/Monticello High School last Friday, Oct. 25, to advance to the second round of the Division 4 WIAA State Tournament. Friday’s victory also marked Clinton’s first playoff win in school history. Spiwak’s team will now host the No. 1 ranked Big Foot Chiefs (Walworth, Wis.) this Friday at 7 p.m.

“We’ve got a great group of young men who have a rare drive and show great commitment,” said Spiwak. “We’ve been able to overcome the weekly adversities that we face by focusing on our long term goals.”

An Oregon, Wis., native, Spiwak is a 2001 graduate of Oregon High School, where he played as a lineman under coach Bob Prahl. Spiwak graduated from Wartburg College (Iowa) in 2005 and accepted his first head coaching position at Parker High School (Ariz.) in 2007. Spiwak returned to Wisconsin in 2012 to take his current position at Clinton High School. Spiwak is also the social studies teacher at Clinton Middle School.

Spiwak and his staff oversee a program of 62 players, including a varsity roster of 40. His assistant coaching staff includes Nate Breit, Dave Fridley, Andrew Koconis, Pat Mullooly, Joe Paschke, Jamie Peck, Brock Schliem and Jacob Standiford.

Spiwak is married to his wife, Kari.
