Results from 2014 WFCA Combine

The inaugural WFCA Combine was held over the weekend, and full results are now available. The Skill Player Combine was held Saturday at Arrowhead High School, while the Big Man Competition took place Sunday at NX Level's training facility in Waukesha.

The WFCA Combine was conducted by NX Level staff with many high school football coaches assisting, and sponsored by the WFCA, NX Level, KollegeTown Sports, Under Armour, and WisSports.net. Former Badgers and NFL star Tim Krumrie also addressed the attendees. College coaches in attendance included representatives from the following schools:  North Dakota State, Western Illinois, UW-Stevens Point, and UW-La Crosse.

Skill Player Results

Demaris Purifoy, a 2015 running back from Wauwatosa West, put on quite a show in the 40-yard dash, running a 4.56 second time. His strong performance earned him a scholarship offer from North Dakota State later in the day. Waukesha West 2015 receiver Chase Scharnek was also impressive with a 4.62 time. Franklin 2016 running back Gavin Boeck (4.66) and Stevens Point 2016 wide receiver Victor Kizewski (4.68) also went under 4.70. 

The 5-10-5 measures a player's quickness and ability to change direction, and Appleton East 2015 running back Gabe Heindel posted the fastest time there, with a 4.18 second result. Ozaukee 2017 tight end Jared Zausch (4.22), Boeck (4.25), and Menasha 2015 running back Matt Rohde (4.25) also posted strong times.

In the L-Drill, Waupun 2015 running back Adrian Harmsen flew threw the course in 6.72 seconds, well ahead of the rest of the field. Almond-Bancroft 2015 running back Reegan Anderson (6.90), Waukesha West defensive back Cody Kujawa (6.94), Heindel (6.96), and Wisconsin Rapids 2015 linebacker Jeremy Statz (6.97) also went under 7 seconds. 

In the vertical jump, Purifoy and Heindel tied for the best results with jumps of 32.8 inches. Rohde went 32 inches even.

Anderson and Scharnek tied for the best broad jump at 9 feet, 5 inches. Purifoy and Boeck went 9'4”.

Big Man Challenge

Sunday's Big Man Challenge allowed players to showcase their skills in both athletic and strength challenges. Individual marks for the athletic events are below, while the lifting was a team format.

In the 10-yard dash to measure a player's quickness and explosion, Oak Creek 2017 Nick Dulaney posted a 1.63 second time, followed closely by Hortonville 2015 Dylan Krovoshein (1.66), Fort Atkinson 2015 Jacob Boos (1.69), and Ozaukee 2017 Anthony Rauch (1.69) posted strong times as well. 

In the 5-10-5 event, Krovoshein posted a blazing 4.51 second time. Waukesha West 2016 Sam Heckel (4.72), Oak Creek 2015 Parker Brehm (4.75), and Franklin 2016 Sam Ruetz (4.75) also went fast in the drill.

In the vertical jump, two athletes stood out. Dulaney jumped 29.9 inches, while Waukesha West 2015 Jake Keating was just behind at 29.7 inches.

Dulaney was also tops in the broad jump with a leap of 8 feet, 8.5 inches. Heckel posted a mark of 8 feet, 6 inches, while Fort Atkinson 2015 Austin Schmitz (8'5.5”) and Clinton 2015 Brenden Taylor (8'5”) round out the top four.
