September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

08/31/2016, 10:15am CDT

Hello coaches, please see information below from The Jason Foundation and the National Organization of Coaches Association Directors.

The Jason Foundation (JFI) and NOCAD are working together to combat the “Silent Epidemic” of youth suicide.  By making our affiliation official in back in February, we are striving to create awareness and become a resource for all of your coaches.  If you are unaware, September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.  During this month, individuals and organizations will be conducting activities to raise awareness of youth suicide and promoting prevention.
I have created an informational packet for the month of September that you may find useful.  The packet is available for download on a specially made page on our website.  (  It includes information about JFI, statistics on youth suicide, suggestions on what you and your coaches can do during the month, and much more.  I implore you to take the time to review the packet of information.  I believe that much of the content could prove quite beneficial in the upcoming month.  If you find that it is valuable, I hope that you will consider sharing the link with your membership.
NOCAD and The Jason Foundation have an enormous opportunity to make an impact on the lives of your student-athletes, and community at-large, in September.  If there is anything that I can do for you, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.  I am your point of contact here at The Jason Foundation if there is anything that you need.

Thank you very much for your support and consideration.
